The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) has announced a new assessment model for the registration of internationally qualified nurses and midwives in the country. The board will also introduce an Outcomes-Based Assessment replacing the current bridging program for nurses not having “substantially equivalent” qualifications.
As per the new plan by NMBA, this bridging course will be completely ceased and will be replaced by an outcomes-based assessment (OBA) pathway.

Academic entry requirement:

• International applicants must be 18 years or older
• International students must have completed Year 12 (including science and mathematics) or international equivalent.
• be able to provide the below checks prior to the first clinical placement:
• a current clear Working with Children Check
• a current clear National Police Record Check (Australia and one from your home country)
• an up to date immunization/vaccination record (related to Health Care Worker Category A, i.e. Diphtheria/Tetanus; Poliomyelitis; Measles/Mumps/ Rubella; Varicella-Zoster Virus (Chicken Pox); Hepatitis B; Mantoux Test, Flu vaccine

 

English entry requirement

• IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0 with no band score less than 7.0 (or equivalent)
• The IELTS test results can be from:
  In one test sitting; or A maximum of two test sittings within a six month period only if: Applicants achieved a minimum overall IELTS (academic) score of 7.0 in each sitting, and Applicants achieved a minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0 in each component across two test sittings, and no band score less than 6.5 (or equivalent)

Academic entry requirements

• International applicants must be 18 years or older
• International students must have completed Year 12 (including science and mathematics) or international equivalent or completion of Diploma of Nursing from an approved provider.
• be able to provide below checks prior to the first clinical placement:- a current clear Working with Children Check
  – a current clear National Police Record Check (Australia and one from your home country)
  – an up-to-date immunization/vaccination record (related to Health Care Worker Category A, i.e. Diphtheria/Tetanus; Poliomyelitis; Measles/Mumps/ Rubella; Varicella Zoster Virus (Chicken Pox); Hepatitis B; Mantoux Test, Flu vaccine

Note: Eligible applicants might have options for direct 2nd year & 3rd year entry .

• IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0 with no band score less than 7.0 (or equivalent)
• The IELTS test results can be from:
  – In one test sitting; or a maximum of two test sittings within a six month period only if: applicants achieved a minimum overall IELTS (academic) score of 7.0 in each sitting; and applicants achieved a minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0 in each component across two test sittings
• No band score less than 6.5 (or equivalent) in some of the regional education providers (Enquire within).
